Red capsicums contain 3.5g of sugar per 100 grams and green capsicums contain 2.5 grams of sugar per 100 grams so I wouldn’t classify capsicums as being high in sugar. Keep in mind also that even people with diabetes can have foods containing sugar, as long as it is in moderation. There is no need to completely eliminate sugar from the diet, and some foods which are higher in sugar are also quite healthy for us, for example fruit. It is important to think about foods as a whole, not just in terms of their individual nutrients, otherwise you may be missing the bigger picture and classifying foods as unhealthy when they are actually good for you. Sugar is one nutrient that is receiving a lot of media and internet attention at the moment but a small amount as part of an otherwise balanced diet is ok.
